As Cairn continues to nurture young talent, the Barrels of Learning Per Day – BOLD Induction programme plays a pivotal role in equipping new campus hires with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful transition into the corporate world.
The BOLD Induction programme for Cairn’s FY’25 campus hires commenced on January 13, 2025 at MPT – OB in Barmer. Designed as a five-day immersive experience, the programme provided new hires with a comprehensive understanding of life at Cairn, featuring leadership discussions, business unit overviews, skill-building sessions, and site visits.
Day 1: Leadership Insights
The induction began with engaging sessions led by key management team members. Bhawna Choudhary Kadan and Shreya Aggarwal from Learning and Development team opened the day by sharing valuable insights on career growth and development opportunities at Cairn. The leadership session featured Parul Verma, Deputy CHRO, who discussed our HR strategies. At the same time, Navratan Sharma, Chief HSE Officer, and Rakesh Agiwal, Chief Policy and Regulatory Officer, provided perspectives on our competitive strengths. Additionally, senior leaders, including Hitesh Vaid, CFO, Subhadeep Khan, CHRO; Sam Algar, President – Exploration; and Andrew McIntosh, Chief Commercial Officer underscored the critical role of management in the organisation’s success.
Day 2: Business Unit Overviews
The second day was dedicated to exploring our Strategic Business Units (SBUs). Vinayak, Director of RJ North, and Shailendra Jetley, Director of RJ South, led discussions on operations, drilling, and petroleum engineering, offering in-depth insights into our technical expertise.
Day 3: Technical and Compliance Training
The third day focused on practical knowledge, with Jasmin Sahurity, Manish Dutt Kothiyal, and Avinash Bohra providing an overview of technical operations. Sessions on geosciences were conducted by Monosvita Chaliha, Ranjan Sinha, and Sudeshna Basu, while the HR team covered HRMS and company policies. At the same time, Harshi Rastogi and Ashish Mukherjee reinforced our commitment to ethical standards through sessions on our zero-tolerance policy towards POSH and COBE.
Campus to Corporate Training
The final phase of the induction comprised a two-day ‘Campus to Corporate’ training designed to facilitate a seamless transition from academia to the professional world. On the first day, the focus was on executive presence, with participants engaging in body language exercises and voice modulation drills to enhance confidence and communication skills. The second day centred on trust-building, where attendees participated in managing difficult conversations, teamwork, and decision-making activities. A final online simulation enabled them to apply their newly acquired skills in a realistic setting.
Site Visits: Bridging Theory and Practice
As part of the induction, campus hires visited our CSR and operational sites. The day began with HSE training and visits to the Mangala Processing Terminal and the Mangala Well Pad. An immersive offsite visit introduced them to our key CSR initiatives in Barmer, Rajasthan. Participants explored significant community projects, including Nand Ghars, the Jeevan Amrit Project, which provides safe drinking water through reverse osmosis, Barmer Unnati, focused on rainwater harvesting, and the Cairn Enterprise Centre (CEC), which supports skill development. Priya Sharma also led a session on skill enhancement during the CSR visit.
With this, the BOLD Induction programme for FY’25 concluded successfully. We extend our best wishes to all new hires as they embark on their professional journeys with us.
