In a landmark move to deepen collaboration, Cairn and ONGC leadership came together on August 25 and 26, 2025 to align on the future of the Jantapathar block in Assam. Building on the recently signed MoU, the two-day meet brought senior leaders and technical experts to the table, with discussions spanning participation structures, availability of surface facilities, joint field visits, and validation of critical reservoir data. This collaborative dialogue laid the foundation for a strong framework to develop the Jantapathar asset jointly.

A key highlight of the engagement was the creation of a Joint Technical Committee (JTC), bringing together experts from both organisations to drive technical evaluations and data validation. The JTC will not only analyse geological insights but also help finalise the percentage shareholding between the partners, setting the stage for the formation of a Joint Venture (JV). With ONGC committing to share vital geological datasets, Cairn teams will be able to independently validate data and ensure technical rigour in shaping the block’s development.

This partnership marks an important milestone in Cairn’s journey of collaborative growth and resource optimisation. By combining expertise, infrastructure and data, Cairn and ONGC are moving closer to operationalising Jantapathar, an asset that holds immense promise for Energising India. As the Joint Technical Committee begins its work, we look forward to sharing more updates on this exciting collaboration that underscores the power of strategic partnerships in driving exploration and production forward.
