The adoption of high-tech farming under the Barmer Unnati project by Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta transformed the life of Savla Ram, a resident of Loonwa Jageer, Barmer. Initially struggling due to economic pressures, his participation in the project’s training led him to venture into vegetable cultivation on a fraction of his land. Starting with cauliflower, cabbage, and tomatoes, he earned Rs. 45,000 in the first season.
The subsequent introduction of chilli farming significantly increased his income to Rs. 200,000, improving his family’s quality of life and attracting other local farmers to explore modern agricultural technologies. This sparked a trend towards innovative farming practices in the region.
