As one of India’s leading exploration and production (E&P) companies, Cairn has always stood at the intersection of bold ambition and cutting-edge technology. Now, as we launch a high-tech offshore survey in the deep waters of the Krishna-Godavari Basin, we not only expand the horizons of energy discovery, but also break new ground above deck. Among the crew sailing the Bay of Bengal is Prapti, our first woman engineer to explore the unexplored.

In a powerful blend of technology, ambition, and collaboration, we have launched a 3D Controlled Source Electro-Magnetic (CSEM) survey in the deep waters of the Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin, located 100 km off the Ravva coast. This initiative marks a significant milestone in our offshore exploration journey and is being executed in partnership with Norwegian technology leader, Electro Magnetic Geo Services (EMGS). The CSEM survey is designed to enrich our understanding of the offshore subsurface, integrating with recently reprocessed 3D seismic data to sharpen accuracy and mitigate exploration risk.

Leading this high-tech charge is the EMGS vessel Atlantic Guardian, currently navigating the vast waters of the Bay of Bengal, equipped with the advanced “Deep Blue” source system and state-of-the-art ocean bottom receivers. Aboard are our two passionate young geophysicists, Prapti and Sanskar Saraf, who are representing Cairn on a 21-day expedition. In a proud and historic moment, Prapti becomes the first woman engineer from Cairn to set sail on such a deepwater mission, embodying the courage and curiosity that define our next-gen explorers.

More talent is lined up to continue this mission with Som Subhra Banerjee and Abhishek Mehta joining the next rotation, while Brij Mohan Kandpal was the first Cairnian to board the vessel during the early stages of project delivery. As we push the boundaries of offshore exploration through innovation and strategic global partnerships, we are equally proud of the young minds and bold spirits that make this journey possible. This is more than exploration, it’s a discovery driven by purpose.
