In rural communities, skill development initiatives are crucial in fostering economic independence. Recognising this, Cairn launched a millet-based training programme to equip women with valuable entrepreneurial skills.

We recently organised the 5th Maru Udaan District-Level Event, marking another significant step towards empowering rural women through skill development and economic independence. This year, the initiative focused on millet-based entrepreneurship, equipping over 150 women with essential culinary and business skills.

The Millet Cookies Training Workshop provided participants with hands-on experience preparing nutritious millet-based products, including cookies, energy bars, namkeen, and bhel puri. In addition to mastering the art of cooking, the women also received valuable insights into packaging and marketing strategies, enabling them to commercialise their products effectively.

Chief Guest DFO Savita Dahiya graced the event, visiting the Cairn Enterprise Centre and engaging with the trainees, offering words of encouragement. The workshop also served as a platform to educate women on the health benefits of millet and the economic opportunities associated with its growing popularity. Through a collaboration with Rajeeveka, participants were trained in sales and distribution, further enhancing their entrepreneurial prospects.

Live demonstrations ensured an interactive and enriching learning experience, while strict safety protocols were upheld throughout the training. By imparting both practical skills and business knowledge, this initiative has promoted healthier dietary choices and empowered women to build sustainable livelihoods.

We remain committed to fostering economic self-reliance among women through skill-based training and community-driven initiatives, reinforcing its dedication to holistic and inclusive development.
