In the villages of Barchapori and Nahorbari, an opportunity for learning and awareness emerged with the support of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM) & Handloom Department, Government of Assam.
In Nahorbari Village, Hatim Ali from the Handloom and Textile Department acted as the instructor. He engaged with the Self-Help Group (SHG) members, patiently answering their questions and providing valuable insights. Ali encouraged the weavers to register on the official website in line with the Assam government’s SWANIRBHAR NARI Scheme.
The session was filled with Information and Interaction, leaving the participants enriched with knowledge. As the session concluded, the Village Development Committee expressed their gratitude to Team Navrachna Mahila Vikas Trust (NMVT) and Cairn for organizing the event, which was attended by 60 people.
Meanwhile, in Barchapori Village, Kiron Baruah, Deputy District Officer of the Handloom and Textile Department, shared insights into the weaving industry and how individuals could create livelihoods through government schemes. Tridip Kumar Gogoi, the Moderator of Sarupathar Handloom and Textile, added information about marketing opportunities available through the Assam government’s website.
The session aimed not only to teach about weaving but also to inspire dreams of economic progress and self-reliance. Gogoi’s words resonated with the community, instilling determination and dedication.
As the session ended, committee members expressed their appreciation to both the team NMVT and Cairn for illuminating their path toward a brighter future. This gathering of 70 people was characterized by genuine learning and empowerment, demonstrating the power of knowledge and opportunity.
