We were honoured to welcome the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma, at our Mangala Processing Terminal (MPT), marking a significant moment in the continued development of India’s energy sector. The visit was hosted by our Chairman, Mr. Anil Agarwal, alongside Ms. Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc Limited and Non-Executive Director of Vedanta. Together, they warmly welcomed the Chief Minister to Mangala, the country’s largest onshore oil production site.

During this maiden visit to the Mangala field, the Chief Minister planted a sapling, symbolizing the strong ties between the region’s growth and environmental responsibility. Cairn’s leadership team took the opportunity to brief the Chief Minister on the advanced technological interventions implemented in our drilling operations. This included a showcase of various models such as the X-mass tree, drill bit, jet pump, ESP, and PCP models, all of which play a key role in enhancing operational efficiency.

In a significant development, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the new Mangala Wellpad 21. This marks a crucial step in expanding the capacity and production potential of the Mangala field. His visit was accompanied by senior political figures and bureaucrats, including Joraram Kumawat, Cabinet Minister for Animal Husbandry & Dairy; Krishan Kumar K.K. Vishnoi, State Minister for Industry & Commerce, Sports & Youth Affairs, and various other departments; along with Dr. Priyanka Chowdhary, MLA from Barmer, and several top officials from the Rajasthan government.

“The oil and gas fields in Barmer are playing a crucial role in strengthening India’s domestic production and contributing to the socioeconomic development of the region,” said the Chief Minister. He highlighted the importance of Rajasthan’s mineral resources and oil reserves, positioning the state as a key strategic hub in India’s pursuit of energy independence.

As part of the event, a memento containing Mangala Crude and a plaque commemorating the foundation stone laying ceremony for Wellpad 21 was presented to the Chief Minister. Cairn’s leadership team, along with our site teams, also showcased our innovative techniques designed to enhance recovery from mature and aging oil fields. By increasing production from the Barmer basin, we are not only contributing to India’s energy self-sufficiency but also supporting the region’s economic growth and development. Through our efforts in the Barmer basin, Cairn is making a substantial contribution to India’s energy goals, helping accelerate the nation’s journey towards achieving “Aatmanirbharta” in energy.
