Its structured asset hierarchy across blocks, fields, wells, well pads, zones and lift types gives complete visibility and actionable insights, turning raw data into real impact.

The benefits are clear: automation reduces manual work by 40%, predictive alarms achieve 90% accuracy, and well turnaround time is expected to reduce by 10%. DRISHTI also identifies high-impact jobs in ESP and JP wells, supporting smarter prioritisation and efficient operations.

Key operational parameters – such as vibration, acoustic signatures, temperature, humidity and rotational speed – are now being continuously collected and integrated in real time with a central cloud server. This enables early anomaly detection, minimising risks and unplanned downtime. The data is further visualised through an interactive dashboard that offers complete visibility into equipment health, historical performance and trend analytics.

The platform also supports advanced condition-based maintenance using sophisticated analytical models, including RMS, peak value, kurtosis, spectrum, waterfall and waveform analyses. Fault tracking, corrective action management, and closure monitoring are embedded directly within the solution, promoting a more streamlined and responsive maintenance approach. With the objective of maximising production efficiency, enhancing reservoir management, reducing costs, and ensuring operational safety, Cairn embarked on a journey to enable real-time monitoring and optimisation of SRP, HRP, ESP, and PCP wells. This ambitious vision demanded a bold technological leap forward, one that would shift the approach from reactive to proactive, harnessing the power of advanced digital solutions.

To address these challenges, an innovative solution was introduced, integrating IoT technology, machine learning, and predictive analytics. A network of 37 EDGE IoT Gateway Devices was deployed across 70 wells at the RJ site, enabling seamless real-time data collection and remote monitoring. Machine learning algorithms were employed to analyse and characterise dyna cards, unlocking deeper insights and improving the accuracy of performance assessments. Predictive analytics further strengthened the system’s capability, allowing for early identification of potential failures and reducing well downtime. The Edge Device Management (EDM) Application played a critical role in managing these assets efficiently, ensuring smooth operations and minimising disruptions.

The impact of this initiative has been transformative. Real-time data acquisition has provided operators with instant access to crucial well performance parameters, eliminating delays associated with manual data collection. Machine learning-driven intelligence has enhanced decision-making, enabling timely interventions that optimise pump efficiency and field performance. By shifting from a reactive to a proactive approach, well interventions and production losses have been significantly reduced. The ability to anticipate failures and minimise unplanned downtime has directly contributed to improved production stability, ensuring that operations continue without unnecessary interruptions.

Successfully implemented across the ABH fields and NE-NI fields of RJ North, this cutting-edge approach is setting a new benchmark in oil field management. By embracing real-time intelligence and predictive capabilities, Cairn is not just improving well monitoring, it is redefining the future of oil and gas operations, demonstrating how innovation can drive efficiency, sustainability, and long-term success.

MPC is more than just an upgrade, it is a game-changer. By bringing intelligence, automation, and predictive capabilities into our operations, we have redefined efficiency across five fuel gas-fired boilers and five steam turbine generators (STGs), while seamlessly managing 30 air-cooled condenser (ACC) fans. This transformation ensures stable and optimised energy production, allowing us to operate with greater precision and reliability.

At the heart of this initiative is the Hexa-Pilot system, a technological marvel that dynamically adjusts ACC fan speeds based on real-time cooling demands, maximising heat rejection and minimising energy waste. Our boilers now operate at peak efficiency, with advanced combustion control that optimises the fuel-air mix, driving down emissions while enhancing performance. The impact extends to our STGs, where adaptive control strategies balance power output and stabilise high-pressure steam headers, critical for the seamless functioning of turbine-driven pumps that power our production operations.

The results speak for themselves. By leveraging MPC, we have significantly reduced fuel gas consumption, strengthened operational stability, and unlocked new levels of efficiency. With power output now maximised through intelligent automation, we have eliminated manual intervention, enabling a smoother, more reliable energy supply. The ability to analyse real-time calorific values has further refined combustion strategies, making decision-making smarter and more effective than ever before.

This initiative is not just about cost savings, though the $1 million annual savings are a testament to its impact. It is about setting new standards, leading the way in energy innovation, and proving that with the right technology and vision, we can achieve remarkable breakthroughs. We don’t just adapt to change, we drive it. Our success with MPC reflects our unwavering pursuit of excellence, cementing our position as industry leaders in sustainable, intelligent power management.

Our predictive maintenance system integrates battery-operated sensors across rotating pumps, screw compressors, and reciprocating engines, capturing key operational data such as vibrations, temperature, magnetic flux, RPM, and acoustics. Advanced cloud-based analytics detect anomalies, predict failures, and enable proactive interventions, ensuring seamless operations with minimal disruptions.

The impact has been significant, unplanned downtime has dropped due to early fault detection, maintenance planning is now data-driven, and safety has improved by reducing manual inspections in high-risk areas. Cost savings have also increased through preventive maintenance, cutting expenditure on spare parts and emergency repairs.

With 186 sensors deployed across 105 assets, we have enhanced equipment performance and lifespan, generating projected savings of $0.6 million by preventing production losses and optimising maintenance. By shifting from reactive to predictive maintenance, we are systematically increasing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and improving asset reliability.

This is more than a technological upgrade, it is a leap towards a smarter, more resilient oil and gas industry. Cairn continues to lead in digital innovation, setting new benchmarks in efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
