Did you know? India was the first country in the world to introduce a National Agroforestry Policy in 2014. As per the ISRF 2023 report, India’s forest and tree cover spans 82.74 million hectares, 25.17% of the country’s geographical area. These forests are not just landscapes but lifelines, supporting ecosystems, livelihoods, and communities.
Every March 21, the International Day of Forests reminds us of the vital connection between forests, food security, and climate resilience. Forests, often called the planet’s lungs, are critical for nutrition, shelter, and a sustainable future.
Guided by our ESG goal of Transforming the Planet, we are dedicated to preserving this green legacy through afforestation and protecting sensitive species. By 2030, we aim to plant two million trees, enhancing biodiversity, restoring ecosystems, and offsetting carbon emissions. So far, we’ve planted 760,000 trees, including mangroves, 18,000 of 75,000 Khejari saplings, and 140 of 1,500 Guggal saplings. Through the Barmer Unnati Project, 511 wadis have been established, with 161 added in FY 2024-25 alone.
Small actions can spark significant change. Planting a tree, reducing paper waste, or composting food waste can create a ripple effect of environmental impact.
Forests are where life flourishes. This International Day of Forests, let’s unite to protect this green heritage and cultivate a sustainable future. After all, where trees thrive, we all prosper.
