Cairn made a significant impact at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investor’s Summit, held in Guwahati from February 25 – March 1, 2025. As part of our ongoing commitment to developing the North-East region, our participation underscored our focus on ‘Protect, Preserve, Produce’, while showcasing the vast potential of Assam’s hydrocarbon sector. Strategically located in Hall 1, the Cairn Arena provided an immersive experience, offering visitors a deeper understanding of our vision for sustainable development, community empowerment, and biodiversity conservation in Assam.
The summit was inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who also visited the Jhumur cultural event and officially opened all participating booths, setting an inspiring tone for the week ahead. The Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, delivered an insightful address highlighting the summit’s significance in driving transformative growth for the region.

At the inaugural ceremony, our Chairman Anil Agarwal, announced a landmark investment commitment of Rs. 50,000 crore in oil and gas exploration and production, reinforcing Cairn’s dedication to unlocking the hydrocarbon potential of Assam and contributing to India’s energy security. The Cairn Arena was inaugurated by Anil Agarwal, Chairman – Vedanta, alongside Shri Bimal Bora, Minister of Industries and Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam and Shri Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Science and Technology, Government of Assam. The biodiversity zone within our booth became a key attraction, using cutting-edge holographic technology to create a captivating forest experience that highlighted our focus on conservation and drew significant engagement from visitors and industry stakeholders alike.
As part of the summit, Sam Alagar, Chief of Exploration at Cairn, participated in a panel discussion on Assam’s hydrocarbon future. He emphasised the region’s untapped potential while advocating for responsible development that respects local culture and prioritises biodiversity preservation.
We also had the honour of hosting a distinguished group of delegates at the Cairn Arena, including the Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma; Shri Bimal Bora; Shri Keshab Mahanta; Dr. Kabita Sharma, Chief Geologist at the Directorate of Geology and Mining; Anupam Phukon, Senior Geologist at the Mines and Minerals Department; Smt. Rashmi Rekha Borah, Director of AIDC; Arup Kumar Misra, Chairman of PCB; PK Wary, Additional Chief Secretary of Mines and Minerals; and Shri Ashok Singhal, Cabinet Minister for Health, Family Welfare, and Irrigation. Their visit reaffirmed the government’s support for sustainable industrial development in the region.
Adding a cultural dimension to our presence, our handloom center showcased the traditional craft of handloom weaving on the charkha, celebrating local artistry and providing a platform for indigenous craftsmanship to shine. Our debut at Advantage Assam 2.0 marked a milestone in our engagement with the North-East. The experience strengthened our resolve to contribute meaningfully to Assam’s economic growth, while upholding our core values of sustainability, innovation, and community development.
