As India accelerates its energy transition and strengthens its exploration frontiers, industry platforms like UrjaVarta are shaping the future of upstream oil and gas. The second edition of the UrjaVarta, hosted by the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, emerged as a vibrant stage for policy-makers, industry leaders and innovators to come together, where Cairn also made a powerful impact.
Held on July 17, 2025, the event brought together key stakeholders, industry experts and government leaders to shape the future of India’s energy sector. Inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Minister Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, the day-long conclave featured engaging sessions on Strategic Energy Resilience, Digital & AI in E&P and the country’s pivot towards New Energy.
As India’s largest private oil and gas producer, Cairn’s presence was both prominent and purposeful. Mr. Rahul Sharma, representing Vedanta Group, joined the CXO Roundtable with the Minister and reaffirmed Cairn’s strategic commitment to powering India through its growth-led initiatives. Adding depth to the discussions, Biswanath Ghosh, Director – Exploration, participated in a panel on “Collaborative Strategies for Advancing Offshore Exploration,” sharing Cairn’s collaborative vision for unlocking offshore potential.
The spotlight also shone on Cairn’s technical brilliance. Drilling Engineer Aditi Sharma presented her paper on Horizontal ERD Wells, while Ranjeet Singh, Head of Reservoir Modelling, earned accolades for his award-winning technical paper on the ABH Tight Oil Case Study recognized by Mr. Pankaj Jain, Secretary, MoPNG. At the Innovation Centre, Cairn’s engineers and geoscientists showcased innovations in Deepwater, ASP, Shale, EOR and cutting-edge digital technologies like AI, ML and IIoT.
UrjaVarta 2025 wasn’t just a platform for dialogue, it was a celebration of Cairn’s relentless drive for innovation, collaboration and energy leadership.
