As the energy industry pivots toward innovation and sustainability, platforms that drive scientific collaboration are more critical than ever. The SEG 2025 Symposium served as a convergence point for geoscientific thought leadership and next-gen technologies. Cairn participated with pride and purpose at the event held in Hyderabad from June 18-20, 2025. Themed “Beneath the Surface: Innovations in Geoscience,” this premier gathering brought together global geoscientists, researchers and industry leaders to explore transformative technologies redefining subsurface exploration. With India emerging as a vibrant hub for geoscientific innovation, the event offered a platform to engage with cutting-edge advancements in seismic interpretation, geothermal energy, unconventional reservoirs and carbon capture and storage (CCS), key pillars for a sustainable energy future.

A special session honoured Sven Treitel’s contributions to digital signal processing while the SEG Distinguished Instructor Short Course led by Professor Mrinal Sen delivered deep insights on seismic inversion and interpretation. Interactive workshops, knowledge-sharing forums and networking engagements ensured high energy and collaboration throughout the three days reflecting a shared commitment to solving global energy and environmental challenges.

Cairn’s presence was marked by the presentation of four high-impact technical papers each underscoring the company’s expertise in deepwater exploration, reservoir characterization and integrated geophysical analysis. These included Sankhajit Saha’s study on 3D pore-pressure distribution in the KG deepwater block, Debjani Bakshi’s seismic interpretation of stratigraphic facies in the Krishna-Godavari Basin, R Malvika’s work on enhanced lithology discrimination in the Aishwariya Field and Moumita Sengupta’s integrated approach to differentiating oil from brine reservoirs in the Ravva block. These contributions demonstrate Cairn’s strong technical foundation and its relentless drive for innovation in complex geological environments.
