Eight engineers from Cairn successfully completed a three-day Aspen HYSYS Process Simulation training held from June 18-20, 2025 at AspenTech, Pune. The training aimed to build a strong foundation in steady-state process simulation and introduce sustainability modelling concepts within our operational workflows, preparing our teams to meet tomorrow’s production and efficiency challenges head-on.
The program blended instructor-led learning with hands-on simulation exercises focusing on modules critical to Cairn’s operations. Participants explored Aspen’s interface, separation units, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, reporting tools and troubleshooting strategies. Real-world case studies and interactive quizzes ensured deep engagement allowing participants to relate theory to field applications. Topics like separation efficiency and compressor performance particularly resonated with the team offering actionable insights into challenges faced at production sites.
This foundational training marks a meaningful step toward building in-house simulation expertise. Participants are now equipped to model process scenarios, simulate plant conditions and identify opportunities to improve throughput while optimising operational expenditure. By building such capability internally, we can accelerate data-driven decisions enhance plant reliability and continue progressing towards its long-term production and sustainability goals. The program concluded with the awarding of Aspen Basic Certifications and plans for advanced sessions in Dynamic Simulation are already in the pipeline.
As we continue on our journey to meet 50% of India’s domestic crude oil demand, efforts like these ensure our teams are equipped with the tools and knowledge to lead from the front today and into the future.
