As part of our unwavering commitment to operational excellence and safety, Cairn recently participated in a two-day workshop on ‘Safety and Fire in the Upstream Sector,’ hosted by the Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD) at ONGC’s Advanced Training Institute in Goa.
The event brought together safety leaders, operational experts and decision makers from across the oil and gas industry to share knowledge and insights. Chaired by Shri Arun Mittal, Executive Director, OISD, the sessions delved into a diverse set of pressing topics, from emerging global safety trends in the exploration and production sector to real-world case studies that highlighted key learnings.
Participants explored the complexities of offshore decommissioning and the critical safety considerations that accompany such operations. Oil spill prevention, emergency response strategies and understanding the broader environmental impact were also discussed in depth.
One of the key highlights of the workshop was the emphasis on how leadership plays a defining role in shaping and nurturing a strong safety culture. The growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting safer behaviors and enforcing compliance was also explored, particularly in the context of offshore platforms, where stakes are high and conditions demand precision and preparedness. The workshop served as a valuable platform to exchange ideas and reaffirm our collective commitment to safety, innovation and operational integrity, principles that remain at the heart of Cairn’s approach to responsible energy production.
