From the shores of Gujarat to the depths of the Cambay basin, our journey has always been guided by a singular purpose to power India’s energy ambitions. Each milestone is more than just a business achievement; it is a commitment to the communities we serve and the nation we proudly belong to. In that spirit, we are thrilled to share the next chapter in our growth story.
In a significant step towards enhancing India’s domestic energy output, Cairn has acquired seven new exploration blocks, four onshore and three in shallow water blocks, across the Cambay, Saurashtra and Mumbai basins under OALP Round IX. With this acquisition, Cairn emerged as the largest private participant, securing seven out of the 28 blocks awarded in the round. Our national portfolio now extends to 69 blocks covering 73,000 sq. km, further reinforcing our position as India’s largest private acreage holder.

The official signing ceremony was held on April 15, 2025, in the presence of Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
These additions are strategically aligned with our commitment to expanding operations along India’s resource-rich West Coast, where we already maintain an active presence. Our ongoing production from the Lakshmi and Gauri offshore fields in the CB/OS-2 block near Suvali, Surat and the Jaya onshore field in Bharuch, Gujarat, continues to meet critical energy demands. The newly acquired blocks will bolster exploration efforts and accelerate development activities in the region. We are also advancing plans for an appraisal and development campaign in the Ambe shallow water block (DSF) in the Gulf of Cambay adding momentum to our offshore strategy.
