In the bustling construction world, getting caught up in the immediate dangers of heavy machinery and falling debris is easy. But there’s a hidden threat lurking in the shadows – biological hazards. Worldwide, it is estimated that around 320,000 workers die each year from infectious diseases caused by work-related exposures to Biological Hazards. These unseen adversaries, ranging from bacteria and viruses to insects and animals, can pose serious health risks to workers.
RJ North launched a comprehensive Biological Hazards Campaign to address this issue on September 18, 2024. This campaign aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of biological hazards and promote safe working practices. Protection from biological hazards in construction requires awareness, using PPE kits correctly, and adherence to safety protocols. Workers should seek immediate medical attention if they believe they have been exposed to a biological hazard. Regular training on the potential dangers and safety measures can significantly reduce the risk of exposure.
The campaign was officially launched by senior leadership from Cairn and ACE Pipeline. The roadshow that followed visited various RJ North work areas, including MWP, MPT, OB Township, BWP, AWP, and NI Field. Over 1100 personnel attended the safety awareness campaign across the MBA field.
To recognize the efforts of its workforce and business partners, RJ North awarded 30 staff and workers for their safe work practices and participation in a spot quiz contest.
By focusing on biological hazards, RJ North is taking a proactive approach to protecting the health and safety of its workforce. We can create a healthier and safer working environment for all through education, awareness, and safe practices.
