Cairn has a track record among the communities around our operational sites of being a cornerstone in developing entrepreneurs from the remotest parts of the region and championing the theme of ‘Vocal for Local’. Our community building efforts transcend beyond the traditional roles of society and are aiming to empower the women and youth of the nation. Our recent initiative, ‘Jiji Bai’ Self Help Group, supported by Cairn, aims to build women entrepreneurs from Barmer by equipping them with the necessary skills, business acumen and providing them the right platform to grow their business. The Jiji Bai Self-Help Group (SHG) specialises in producing healthy millet-based cookies that are completely organic and preservative free. Cairn recently inaugurated a two-day ‘Jiji Bai’ cookie production workshop, a crucial part of our Women Self Help Group business model movement. External experts provided training in cookie production, aiming to equip the rural women of the Thar Desert with the skills and guidance needed to become successful entrepreneurs.
We are also excited to announce the upcoming launch of our first range of bakery products under the Jiji Bai brand, marking a significant step towards economic independence for rural women.
