Hello! I’m Arnab Jana, an Electrical Engineer with an MBA. I’ve been with Cairn for a year now, working in the Procurement Department.

Since childhood, I’ve had a deep fascination with cameras, far beyond the usual. My passion for photography began when my parents gifted me my first professional camera after I graduated from high school.

Nature photography has always captivated me, especially in remote, less populated areas where nature thrives at its best. This love for raw nature inspired me to pursue trekking, although my educational commitments limited my opportunities. However, upon joining Vedanta last year, I immediately signed up for my first trek: the Deoriatal-Chandrashila trek in Uttarakhand.

Completing that trek in February 2023 sparked a series of adventures. Since then, I’ve trekked Deoriatal-Chandrashila again, Ali-Bedini Bugyal, Har-Ki-Dun, and Phulara Ridge.

Trekking allows me to pause life momentarily, awakening to stunning sunrises, dining beneath the open sky, forging new friendships, and hearing diverse life stories. It’s a break from social media, a chance to sleep under starlit skies and witness shooting stars, all while capturing breathtaking moments.

Trekking has profoundly shaped me, making me mentally and physically tougher and instilling humility, patience, and a spirit of helpfulness. It heightened my awareness of sustainability; simple actions like avoiding packaged food and single-use plastics and carrying reusable utensils for street food contribute to preserving nature’s purity.

Through trekking, I’ve learned that “we never climb mountains; mountains allow us to climb them.” This philosophy guides me to cherish what I have and approach life with kindness. Wish me luck as I prepare for my fifth trek to Nafran Valley in Kashmir this August!
